AAAL Programs
The Saturday Enrichment Program is offered during the school year in three, six week sessions. Children ages 3-12 and their parents participate in traditional African and African-American rituals, learn world languages including Kiswahili, French and Spanish; experience African dance, folklore and music; learn about the ancient kimetric hieroglyphics and their African -American ancestors. The Saturday Enrichment Program is supported by corporate funding.
The Summer Arts Program is a six week program for children ages 6-12. Students are encouraged to explore their identity and their experience in the community through dramatic and visual arts.
The AAAL After School Academy can be structured as needed to meet the needs of the sponsoring school and offers an education-based alternative for the care of students at the close of the school day. Activities are Afrocentric and geared to improving self-esteem as well as academic success.
The Parent Leadership and Advocacy Network (PLAN) is a parent engagement program that is designed to train parent leaders to develop parent networks within their community schools and/ or districts. Parents will learn about the history of education in the US, their state and how it affects their child's education today. This knowledge will empower parents with the skills to effectively advocate for their children and allow them to become more engaged partners with their child's school.
